PATTERN
CUTTING
1 Bust 2x
FOLD (– – – –) means: here is the center of a pattern
piece but never a cut edge or a seam. The piece should be
cut double, with the fold line forming the center line.
Pattern pieces that are outlined with a broken line in the
cutting diagrams are to be placed face down on the fabric.
2 Front of panty 1x

4 Trimming 1x
The cutting diagrams on the pattern sheet show
how the pattern pieces should be placed on the
fabric.
For a single layer of fabric, the pattern pieces are
pinned to the right side. For double layers of fabric,
the right sides are facing and the pattern pieces are
pinned to the left side. The pattern pieces that are
shown in the cutting diagram, extending over the
fold of the fabric, should be cut last from a single
layer of fabric.
Paper cut for US Letter (8 ½” X 11”) (German
DIN A4) prints : The patterns are printed out on 8
sheets with a thin frame. Wait until all sheets are
printed out. Arrange the sheets so that they fit
together (see extra page with the overview of the
prints). Cut off the single sheets in each case in the
upper and right edge along the thin frame lines.
Begin with the left lower sheet and then glue the
parts in the frame lines together precisely.
SEAM AND HEMLINE ALLOWANCES are
included: 5/8” (1.5 cm) in all edges and seams.
Select your cut size according to the Burda size
chart: Dresses, blouses, jackets and coats according
to the bust size; trousers and skirts according to the
hip width. Change the patterns about 2/5” (1 cm),
if necessary, to fit your measurements if they
deviate from the Burda size chart.
Use BURDA carbon paper to transfer all pattern
lines and markings to the left side of the fabric
pieces.
You will find the instructions in the packet.
Cut out the pattern according to your size.

SEWING
When sewing, right sides of fabric should
be facing each other.
Advice for Jersey:
To maintain the elasticity of the fabric,
stitch seams with an elastic stitch, or
stitch with level adjusted zigzag stitch.
With fine mesh product use a Jersey
needle. Its spherical point prevents mesh
damage.
BIKINI
Top
1) Turn the side allowances of the bust
parts inwards, press. Turn allowances
inwards once again, pin and stitch close
to the folded edge.
2) Then fold and press the front
allowances inwards, pin.
3) Cut off 2 lengths of 18” (45 cm) from
the cord for the shoulder straps. Position
a cord end at the top of the bust piece
under the allowance and pin. Stitch
allowances of front edges close to the
edge and stitch to hold the cord in place.
Stitch the cord ends on top. Knot cord
ends.
4) Neaten lower edges of the bust pieces.
Press allowances inwards, fold narrowly
and stitch 2/5” (1 cm) wide.
5) Cut off the elastic cord, for
Size 4 : 42” (106 cm)
Size 6 : 43 ½” (110 cm)
Size 8 : 45” (114 cm)
Size 10 : 46 1/2”(118 cm)
Size 12 : 48” (122 cm
Size 14 : 49 1/2” (126 cm)
Size 16 : 51” (130 cm
Size 18 : 53” (134 cm)
Use a safety pin to pull it through the
tunnel of the lower edges of the bust
piece. Knot cord ends.

6) Lay front panty piece with right sides
facing to back panty piece, pin crotch
seam (seam 1) and stitch. Press seam
allowances apart.
7) Trimmings (gusset):
Fold and press allowances at the straight
upper and lower edge and stitch.
Position trimming on the panty’s crotch
with wrong sides facing, the edges
meeting the marked lines. Pin trimming
at the side. TIP: For more comfort cut
the gusset from jersey fabric.
8) Turn allowances at the sides of the
panty’s edges inwards and press. Fold
allowances and stitch 3/10” (0.7 cm).
9) Cut off 2 pieces of elastic band, for
Size 4 : 20” (50 cm)
Size 6 : 20 1/2” (52 cm)
Size 8 : 21” (54 cm)
Size 10 : 22” (56 cm)
Size 12 : 23” (58 cm)
Size 14 : 23 1/2” (60 cm)
Size 16 :24 1/2” (62 cm)
Size 18 : 25” (64 cm)
Pull cord, using a safety pin, inside the
panty’s edges. Stitch elastic cord ends
onto the allowances. Turn the front
panty’s side allowances inwards (9a).
Stitch front and back of panty’s upper
edges according to description and
drawing. Cut off 2 pieces of elastic cord,
for Sizes 4 to 10 cut 35 1/2” (90 cm), for
sizes 12 to 18 cut 39 1/2” (100 cm).
10) Pull cords, using a safety pin, and
tighten slightly. TIP: So that the panty
pieces do not move, stitch at the ends of
the upper panty edges straight across the
cords. (Arrows). Knot cord ends.
