NessusNT - 981007, by Renaud Deraison <deraison@nessus.org> Updates : http://www.nessus.org/ nessusd : the server (binds on port 3001) Some notes about NessusNT : - it has less plugins than the Unix version (90 vs. 109), so if you have the choice between NT and Unix, choose Unix - the Windows and Java clients do not take advantage of the new communication protocol of Nessus which was introduced this year, this means that you will have to edit manually conf/nessusd.conf - NessusNT does NOT work under Windows95 - There is no portscanner. nessusd knows how to deal with this problem, but you will have less informations about the remote host (anyway, a portscanner will be available soon) - Last but not least, some host expansion options (namely : DNS and NFS) could not be implemented.
