Materials Required:
Beige evenweave fabric 10cm x 13cm.
White, Deep Green and Mustard
embroidery thread.
7mm ribbon: Red and Green.
4mm Green ribbon.
Ribbon embroidery needle.
Embroidery needle.
Scrap of White card.
2oz Wadding 7cm x 10cm.
Gold pen and a pencil.
P. V.A. Craft Adhesive.
Card mount: AP51P.
To Make The Card:
Place the open card face down and lay the
fabric face down over the back of the aperture.
Twist the fabric round so the weave runs from
the top tip of the bouquet to the lowest point
in a straight line.
Using a pencil, roughly draw a line approxi-
mately 5mm larger than the aperture all round
onto the back of the fabric. This will serve as a
loose guide for you to stitch within. The rose
stems should be stitched to the pencil line or
further so they go behind the bouquet wrapper.
The rose
heads and
sepals must
finish 5mm
or so from
the line to
stay within
the aperture
area.
Using red
7mm wide
ribbon work
a single lazy
daisy stitch
for each rose,
stitch 12 roses
over the fabric
to form a good
group keeping
the stitches
roughly in line
with the weave
of the fabric.
Stitch a sepal
either side of
each bud using
green 7mm
wide ribbon and
Japanese stitch
as shown in the
diagram.
Using two
strands of green
embroidery
thread, work the
stems in long

straight stitches keeping them roughly in line
with the grain of the fabric. On the taller roses,
stitch small bits of stem between the top rose
heads and the ones below.
Work leaves onto the stems in 4mm wide
green ribbon and Japanese stitch, the exact
amount of leaves is not important as long as
they are not too close together and look natural.
Using two strands of mustard thread, make
small branching stems in straight stitches be-
tween the roses and in the spaces as shown as
shown in the photo. These will almost disappear
in the beige fabric adding to the dainty effect.
Using two strands of white thread, randomly
stitch French knots over the background fabric
to make the Gypsophila.
Draw a small gift tag
using gold pen, mine is
approximately 2cm x 3.5cm
with a pointed end. Thread
the needle with two strands
of mustard thread, push the
needle through the pointed
end of the tag and pull
a short length of thread
through. Unthread the needle and leave the ends loose.
Carefully cut down the front of the bouquet wrapper
to make a slit. Gather all four ends of the tag threads
together and holding the tag toward the front of the
card place the threads across the slit and pull down.
Adjust the amount of thread at the front so the tag
hangs nicely, turn the card over and glue or tape the
ends of the threads to the back of the card.
Cut the wadding to the shape of the aperture. Mount
the embroidery into the card with the wadding behind
to give it some padding. Then glue the card closed in
the normal way.
