The author of the review writes about the preparations on the stage.
The lights were out. All I could see were little black figures walking ac-
ross the stage, placing microphones here and drum sets there. The audien-
ce was out of control, screaming with anxiety. I was standing on my toes,
leaning over the balcony to get a better look at the stage, when, slowly,
the lights turned on. Out of nowhere, they appeared the greatest band ali-
ve Aerosmith.
The moment they walked on, everyone went wild. When the band got
organized on the gigantic stage, a large rattlesnake (fake, of course) rose
behind them. It was amazing! Then, they began to sing ”Sweet Taste of
India”. They continued with other great songs such as ”Janie’s Got a Gun”,
”Dream On”, ”Pink”, ”Crazy”, ”Walk this Way” and many more of the-
ir greatest hits.
Aerosmith are one of the few bands that make the audience feel loved.
Steven Tyler, lead singer, always talks to you like you have known him
for years. Because the concert was in Boston, where the band started out,
they played an extra-long show. Steve Tyler said that they loved playing
in Boston because we were the best crowd.
The show ended around two in the morning. I don’t think I have ever
had such a great time in my life. In fact, I am going back this New Ye-
ar’s Eve to watch them play again!

That is such a hard question to answer, because there is so much
to remember, starting with the very first time you come in. It’s so exci-
ting, but it’s also very scary because you don’t know what to expect. So,
I’ve had so many different moments here, moments of great joy and sad-
ness and what I consider to be very historic times that I just can’t pick

ke fun of you or give you a hard time. But you’ve got to live with your-
self and, at the end of the day, what’s most important is that you’ve been
true to yourself. And that’s advice from the ancient Greeks, and it’s as
good today as it was then.
I don’t know. You’d probably have to ask my daughter. I just
tried to do the best I knew how, and I think that it’s such a challenge for
any of us who are mothers or fathers. The vast majority of parents try to
do the best they can, given what they were given as children, how they
were raised and what they understand about themselves and the world.
But no matter how hard you try, you’re going to make mistakes.

Well, when I was growing up, I didn’t really know any women
who worked, other than my teachers, the librarian and a few people like
that. So, I didn’t admire one individual as much as I admired characteri-
stics of people, people who were resilient and courageous in the face of
whatever life threw their way, whether it was an illness or some other tra-
gedy.
I don’t know. I think I would like to know more about the world
and what happens. I’d like to have more time in the day, and be able to
do all the things that I am working on that I hope will help people. I wo-

Mary Rosevear, director of the Federation of Zoos, believes that urban
zoos can survive the loss of their large animals. “A few years ago Edin-
burgh Zoo decided they couldn’t keep elephants any more, but they did
not see a decrease in the number of visitors.”
The actress Virginia McKenna, founder of the Born Free foundation,
who has campaigned for the removal of the elephants from London Zoo,
is against Rosevear’s defence of urban zoos. “She’s looking at it from the
human point of view. I’m trying to speak up for the animals’ needs. This
type of zoo isn’t about wildlife the animals are living museum pieces. An
urban zoo is no place for animals. This is an opportunity for London Zoo
to transform the elephant and rhino pavilion into an educational centre
where people can learn about conservation.”

Last month the senior elephant keeper at London Zoo Jim Robson was
killed by one of the elephants he loved. A tragic death, and one that co-
uld also mean the end of London Zoo perhaps of all Britain’s urban zo-
os. Last week the zoo announced that its three elephants were to be mo-
ved to a wild animal park. A statement from the zoo said that Robson’s
death had not forced the decision and that the intention had always been
to move the elephants. “We will be sorry to see the elephants go; there
have been elephants in London Zoo since 1831. But these elephants will
feel much better in the larger group,” said the zoo’s director-general.
As one article put it, this is a crisis for the zoo because if London Zoo
cannot house “charismatic mega-species”, it means that its days are num-
bered. Many smaller zoo animals are a delight, but they will not make
many adults pay for a ticket or children scream with delight. Lions, ti-
gers, gorillas, giraffes, pandas, rhinos and most of all elephants are what
makes a visit to the zoo unforgettable.
Despite this, London Zoo aims to try without the traditional star perfor-
mers. Most of the bears have already gone and the famous terraces whe-
re they were housed are, apart from two bears – a mother bear with a cub,
deserted.
There are different opinions on zoos. A middle-aged woman called Ann
was in no doubt. “I’m all for zoos. This is the only way the next genera-
tion can see animals without travelling abroad. Their work is invaluab-
le.” Zoos are not perfect places to live, but they have inspired children

I’m too young to bother myself with caring about my health. At 17,
I don’t have to worry about cholesterol, cancer or a heart attack. I eat wha-
tever I like and feel good about it. I can’t imagine life without hambur-
gers, chips, Coca-Cola and sweets. All those greens and working out eve-
ry day is definitely not for me. I believe people are healthy when they en-
joy life and accept themselves even if they are a bit overweight. That’s
what I feel about my life.

My parents have always been very much concerned about their health
and the health of their children. It’s partly because my grandparents died
of cancer when they were still middle-aged. My Mum is convinced we
might be at risk, so we try to follow a healthy lifestyle and have a check-

of fruit and vegetables and we care about how we prepare our meals. We
avoid frying meat and potatoes. I go to the gym twice a week and my pa-
rents cycle and go jogging as often as possible.

I don’t think you should torture yourself with all those healthy diets and
physical exercise. The diets are just a matter of fashion; they pass and
then come back after a few years. It’s all business. One year they say that
butter is very unhealthy and you should only eat margarine. The next ye-

by the lack of vitamins that are found in butter. Besides, what’s the point
in caring about your health too much? After all you can have a fatal ac-
cident even if you are very fit. It doesn’t mean that I’m killing myself with
my lifestyle, but I just don’t focus my life on what I eat and how much
