README

Boogex is a guitar amplifier plug-in with a variety of sound shaping
features. With Boogex it is possible to get heavy distorted sound as
well as slight distortion sound. Boogex is also able to apply any speaker
cabinet impulse response (selection of built-in impulses is available).
Processing latency is very modest - 96 samples (2.1 ms at 44.1kHz).
Boogex comes with several example factory presets.

Parameters:

Emphasis and Cut Filters. These are used to shape the sound of an
amplifier. This is a very powerful tone-shaping stage. Please check the
commercial GlissEQ or Voxformer plug-ins for the full description on how
EQ curve surface and handles work.

Pre-filter. Used to filter the incoming guitar signal. This is usually
useful if the pickups on the guitar are too boomy or too crisp. This can
be also used to shape the sound.

Amplifier. This part is usually represented by a single Drive knob on the
actual guitar combos. This concept has been refined in Boogex and it was
made possible to get very different overdrive tones using four knobs.
Tone knob adjusts the character of distortion (or selects 'channel' like
in some guitar combos - from clean to overdriven). With low tone value
you will get a mild distortion, while with higher tone values distortion
will be heavier. Dynamics adjusts the dynamic response of the amplifier.
Its effect is most evident with low Phase parameter values.
Phase parameter adjusts the overdrive performance. With this parameter it
is possible to fine-tune harmonical structure of the overdrive - for
example if you hear too much discord tuning the Phase parameter may help.
In some cases Phase also works as a mic displacement control - you can get
different degrees of tone with it.

Speaker cabinet impulse response selects which speaker cabinet model
(and mic) to use. It is possible to load external WAV or AIFF audio files,
but you have to be careful with large files as they may overload
    processor quickly.

By means of the "Dry Pre Cab" knob you may also mix in the original
unprocessed (dry) signal to the distorted signal before it goes to speaker
cabinet stage. You may use the "Dry Post Cab" knob to mix in the original
unprocessed (dry) signal to the final output.

What's New:

    Version 1.5, 25-dec-2007
    ------------------------
    Minor fix.

    Version 1.4, 08-aug-2007
    ------------------------
    1. Access violation error on systems with >2GB memory solved.
    2. Plug-in will now search for missing impulse files in the folder
where its DLL file resides (subfolders will be also scanned).

    Version 1.3.1, 07-jan-2006
    --------------------------
    1. Several new cabinet impulses added.
    2. An option to disable cabinet simulation stage implemented.
    3. Dry signal mixing paths added, pre and post cabinet simulation stage.

    Version 1.2, 28-jul-2005
    ------------------------
Tone control behavior changed. It now works like a wet/dry mix control
allowing you to leave more original clean sound in the overall sound.

    Version 1.1, 24-jul-2005
    ------------------------
    More internal cabinet impulses added.

    Version 1.0, 28-jun-2005
    ------------------------
    Initial release.
