Tutorial 036: Brioette Wrap

This tutorial shows how to wrap a brioette or
fat pear with a coied bai. The coiing gives the
brioette a more deicate and intricate ook.
Materials:
1 brioette or fat pear (the one shown in this
exampe measures ďÑ by đÑ.
3Ñ 24 ga soft or haf hard wire
20Ñ 28 or 26 ga soft wire
Step 1: Measure the briolette
Measure the distance between the tip of the
brioette and the dried hoe. In this case, it
measures 6mm ong.
Step 2: Coil the 24 ga wire
Cut a 3Ñ ong piece of 24 ga wire and a 4 ďÑ
ong piece of 28 ga. Coil the 28 ga around the
24 ga, until the coiing measures 6mm (or the
distance between the tip and the hoe of your
brioette).

Step 3: Bend the 24 ga wire to form the
shank
Trim both ends of the 28 ga wire very cosey.
Using the chain nose or fat nose piers, bend
the 24 ga wire just 3mm from one end at a 90
degree ange. This forms the shank of the
brioette wrap.
Step 4: Bend the 24 wire again
Using the chain nose or fat nose piers, bend
the wire again at a 90 degree ange as cose as
possibe to the coiing and sip the 24 ga wire
through the brioette.
Step 5: Coil the other side
Using the rest of the 28 ga wire (about 15 ďÑ),
coil the other side of the brioette, exacty 6mm
(or the same distance from the hoe to the tip as
used before).

Step 6: Fold the 24 ga wire
Move the brioette towards the first coiing as
cose as possibe. Using your fingers, fod the
second coiing upward.
Step 7: Bend the 24 ga wire upward
Using the fat nose piers, bend the 24 ga wire to
start forming the second portion of the shank.
Do not trim the ong 28 ga wire yet.
Step 8: Bend the 24 ga wire again to form
the shank
Using the fat nose piers again, bend the wire
90 degrees outward, exacty 3mm from the
coiing, mirroring the other side.

Step 9: Coil the 24 ga wire
Bring the thin 28 ga wire upward towards the
second bend, and start coiing the 28 ga around
the 24 ga wire. Coil for đÑ ong, or as ong as
you woud ike the oop to be.
Step 10: Form the loop
Using the round nose piers, carefuy form the
upper oop.
Step 11: Wrap the loop
Hoding the two shanks together, wrap the
shank tighty using the 24 ga wire.

Step 12: Finish wrapping the shank
Finish wrapping the entire shank and trim the
wire very cosey.
Step 13: Turn the loop 90 degrees
(optional)
If needed, turn the shank 90 degrees for better
positioning in the final jewery piece.
