Talon of the Thrush

Manifesting: Ability to manifest trick shot UP .
Special: Wind reader class feature, must be
trained by another Talon of the Thrush.
Class Skills
The Talon of the Thrush’s class skills are Balance,
Climb, Concentration, Craft, Hide, Intimidate,
Jump, Knowledge (psionics), Listen, Perform,
Profession, Sense Motive, Spot, Survival, Use
Psionic Device, and Use Rope.
Skill Points per Level: 4 + Int modifier.
A marksman can be skilled at firing a bow,
shooting a crossbow, or throwing a weapon. He
can even choose to specialize in one of these styles,
gaining increasingly powerful abilities with the
selected weapon style. Yet there are those who
learn to perform unusual tricks and techniques with
thrown weapons, dazzling the eye and not only
defeating their foes, but literally humiliating them.
These individuals are masters of the trick shot,
using thrown weapons the way a master craftsman
uses his tools.
Class Features
All of the following are class features of the
Talon of the Thrush.
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Talons of
the Thrush gain no additional weapon or armor
proficiencies.
Manifesting : At every level indicated, the
character gains additional power points per day
and access to new powers as if he had also gained
a level in whatever manifesting class he belonged
to before he added the prestige class. He does not,
however, gain any other benefit a character of that
class would have gained (bonus feats, metapsionic
or item creation feats, and so on). This essentially
means that he adds the level of Talon of the Thrush
to the level of whatever manifesting class the
character has, and then determines power points
per day, powers known, and manifester level
accordingly.
If a character had more than one manifesting
class before he became a Talon of the Thrush,
he must decide to which class he adds the new
level of Talon of the Thrush for the purpose of
determining power points per day, powers known,
and manifester level.
Power Throw (Su): The Talon of the Thrush
Becoming a Talon of the
Thrush
The path to becoming a Talon of the Thrush is
one that is typically reserved for marksmen. The
understanding of how weapons flow in the world
around them is something that marksmen truly
grasp, something most others do not comprehend.
Marksmen with the ability to manifest mind blades
may find the Talon of the Thrush a great synergy
between the two classes. Regardless, only those
who are taught by current Talons may learn the
secrets to becoming a Talon of the Thrush.
Hit Dice: d6
Entry Requirements
To qualify to become a Talon of the Thrush, a
character must fulfill the following criteria.
Base Attack Bonus: +5.
Skills: Intimidate 4 ranks.
Feats: Weapon Focus (any thrown weapon).

learns to substitute power for accuracy with his
thrown attacks, something the Thrush (see below)
was legendary for doing. Before making any
attacks, the Talon of the Thrush may subtract a
number from all ranged attack rolls and add the
same number to all ranged damage rolls made from
a thrown weapon. This number may not exceed
the Talon of the Thrush’s base attack bonus. The
penalty on attacks and bonus on damage applies
until the Talon of the Thrush’s next turn.
Signature Style (Su): Students of the thrown
style of combat, Talons of the Thrush learn unusual
ways to hurl weapons. At 2nd level and every three
levels thereafter, a Talon of the Thrush gains the
signature style class feature of the marksman. This
signature style may only be for the thrown weapon
option.
Showoff (Su): Trained in manipulating the
trajectory and speed of thrown weapons, a Talon of
the Thrush of 3rd level learns to perform dazzling
displays with his thrown weapon of choice,
attempting to duplicate the legendary tricks of the
Thrush. By taking a standard action and aiming
a thrown weapon at an empty area instead of at a
target, a Talon of the Thrush can activate his ricochet
signature style, sending the weapon bouncing in a
variety of directions, up to his normal maximum
of rebounds (usually 1 + Wisdom modifier). This
allows the Talon to make an Intimidate check
against all opponents with line of sight to the
rebounding weapon.
A Talon of the Thrush may not use showoff to
make an attack.
Psionic Shot (Su): Familiarity with channeling
his psionic power into his thrown attacks, the Talon
of the Thrush learns to imbue destructive power
into his thrown weapons. At 4th level, the Talon of
the Thrush gains the Psionic Shot feat as a bonus
feat, even if he does not meet the requirements.
Split Throw (Su): Talons of the Thrush learn to
combine their psionic potential with their ranged
expertise, using metacreativity to replicate a hurled
weapon. Beginning at 6th level, by expending
psionic focus as part of an attack, a Talon of the
Thrush can split a single weapon into two identical
projectiles. Each weapon must strike at a separate
target and uses the same modifier on its attack
roll. The targets must both be within 15 ft. of each
other.
A Talon of the Thrush may use both weapons
with the ricochet signature style simultaneously.
The total number of redirections for both weapons
cannot exceed the normal maximum (usually 1 +
Wisdom modifier).
Infused Throw (Su): Talons of the Thrush of 7th
level and higher learn how to infuse their thrown
weapons with incredible psychokinetic energy
that has a devastating effect on the target. By
expending psionic focus when using the push by
proxy signature style, successful bull rush attempts
also deal the damage of the weapon, in addition to
pushing the target back.
Rebounding Strike (Su): Legends of the Thrush
say that he was able to use a single thrown weapon
to hit multiple enemies at the same time. Talons of
the Thrush of 9th level learn how to perform this
trick of the Thrush. By expending psionic focus as
part of a ranged attack, a Talon of the Thrush may
redirect the ranged attack at an additional target
by using his ricochet signature style, treating the

first target as if it was a wall. This redirection is
not as precise, however, and the additional attack
roll suffers a -4 penalty instead of the standard -2
penalty.
Talons of the Thrush with the psychokinetic
momentum mastery signature style, however,
suffer no attack roll penalty when using the ricochet
signature style to attack multiple targets.
Inspiring Throw (Su): When a truly talented
Talon of the Thrush performs an awesome throw, he
can inspire his allies and demoralize his enemies.
Anytime a Talon of the Thrush successfully uses
the ricochet signature style and strikes an opponent
after his thrown weapon rebounds, all allies within
30 ft. gain a morale bonus to attack rolls, saving
throws, and skill checks equal to the Talon of
the Thrush’s Wisdom modifier. The Talon of the
Thrush’s enemies within 30 ft. suffer an identical
morale penalty unless they make a successful Will
save (DC 10 + class level + Wisdom modifier).
Thrush will ensure the fastest progression of your
thrown weapon signature style.
Resources
It can be expected as a member of the Talons of
the Thrush that discounted weapons and armor will
be available, so long as you are near the Talons’
base of operations. Frequently, members will pass
down weapons that they have outgrown, although
most choose to further enhance their blades, so you
may have to fend for yourself after getting your
first weapon.
Talons of the Thrush in the
World

Most Talons prefer the company of others of their
order, competing to see who can do the best trick.
Some, however, can be found outside the company
of their fellows, adventuring with those not part
of the organization. These lone individuals are
often out to discover new techniques with ranged
weapons, which they will then bring back to the
other Talons.
Playing a Talon of the
Thrush
The choice to join the ranks of the Talons of the
Thrush should not be taken lightly. The training
required to master the trick throws and acquire the
expertise of the thrown weapon is rigorous and the
organizational ties are not without their demands.
Combat
Your skill with the thrown weapon inspires your
allies and disheartens your foes. You are most at
ease in a combat with sufficient surfaces to rebound
your thrown attacks as necessary, although you are
perfectly comfortable in open areas, where your
aim is unobstructed.
Organization
Few intentionally invite the enmity of the Talons
of the Thrush (detailed below), recognizing that
masters with daggers, darts, spears, and hammers
can be formidable adversaries. The members of
the Talons recognize this, although few actively
flaunt their connection to the group beyond the
tell-tale teal armband common among the Talons,
depicting in black the razor sharp claws of a thrush.
Rogue Talons, those who have chosen to leave,
are not unheard of, although those who depart
the organization on poor terms frequently turn up
missing, never to be heard from again.
Advancement
As a natural progression for marksmen,
talons of the thrush easily multiclass back into
marksman, improving their ability with ranged
weapons. However, the accelerated signature
style progression makes most Talons of the Thrush
progress throughout the entire course of the class.
If you are seeking to vary your ranged abilities,
returning to the marksman class to learn alternate
signature styles can add to your ranged repertoire,
although continuing to progress as a Talon of the
NPC Reactions
The Talons of the Thrush are not a decidedly
overt organization; although neither do they seek
to remain completely unknown. Because of this,
townsfolk who do recognize the armband of the
