Here is a Wonderful Packet trick that fools everyone, and it KILLS !! This effect is
credited to Nick Trost and can be found on Michael Ammars video, Easy to Master Card
Miracles 1, and in some of the better card books. The trick has several names, It is most
commonly known as 8 card brainwave.
Effect : The magi shows 8 cards face up, he explains that this trick works just like the old
Coke ads, yes subliminal messages. You explain that one of the cards has a subliminal
message on it. The spectator FREELY names any card he see's. That card is placed aside.
Now the backs of the remaining cards are shown to be all blue backed cards. The selected
card is turned over and it is seen to have a red Back, the ONLY card in the packet with a
red back, all other cards are blue backed. A real crowd pleaser !!!
You can show this one any way you want to, depending on your performance style. Now
the work, relax, it's easy...
You'll need 4 Red backed Cards, and 4 Blue backed cards. Arrange the cards in Red-
Blue, Red-Blue order all the way through. Now just spread the cards face up, and have
any card named, and cut it to the top. In our example we'll use the 4C, you'd just place the
QD to the bottom of the pack. If the top or the bottom card is named, just place it to the
table, no cut is needed. Any other cards named must be cut to the top, any cards on top of
the named card MUST be cut to the bottom AS A GROUP, Not one at a time. Now you
are set. Simply place the named card to the table, FACE UP of course. Now with the
remaining cards in your left hand and held square, take one card in your right hand and in
one motion turn both hands over supposedly showing the backs of both cards, they'll be
the same color, turn them face up again and deal them to the table. .Drop the right hand
card first, followed by the left hand card. Repeat this until all cards have been shown,
keep a nice and fairly fast rhythm. Now use the last card in your left hand to help square
the cards on the table and turn them AS A BLOCK backs up. This reinforces the fact that
all the cards just displayed are all the same color. I like to end by using the single card to
flip the named card over onto the rest of the pile and it will be a different color than the
rest. It makes a real nice display. This is one of my favorite table hoppers because it
resets itself, of course never repeat this or any trick for the same audience. The move is
called the Olram subtlety. That's Marlo Spelled backwards, of coarse. This trick can be
