Idiomatic phrase
In idiomatic phrases, the words take on slightly diferent meanings, when the whole
phrase is translated to another language. So you need to learn the phrase and it’s
English equivalent as one vocabulary item. However, if you are curious to know more,
check out the break down of the phase, below. There you will find the litteral meaning
of each word. But remember to keep your focus on learning the whole phrase as one
item.

How to use it!
A friendly, informal way of asking if something is possible. This is an informal phrase, but
I can hardly imagine a situation, where it would sound too informal. Just in case you
want to be very formal and less jovial, you could use another expression, which is a
literal translation of the English equivalent word by word:
Er det muligt?
Is that possible?

Ja, det kan vi godt sige.
Yes, that’s okay. /We can say that.

Learn, remember and use it forever!
First … Create flash cards! A flash card is a piece of cardboard with Danish
on one side and English on the other. Or you can download the free software
Anki, and make electronic flash cards. The program will space your repetitions
for you according to how well you have learned each card. Download Anki:
http://ichi2.net/anki/
It’s fine to make cards with single words, just make sure also to do one card for
each whole phrase. This is important.
Then …Flip through your flash cards many times a week. Preferably every
day.
And finally …Use these expressions whenever you have the chance.
Never mind if you are having a conversation in English. Just go ahead and
speak your Danish phrases! The reactions you get will probably be positive.
Some people might even want to tell you other things you could also say in
Danish. And just like that, you are having a real life language class – for free
and without sitting for hours in a class!
