HP Intelligent Power Discovery (IPD) automatically tracks new server
installation and provides higher precision, control, and automation to
power distribution. IPD helps you enhance data center capacity, while
reducing downtime and the possibility of error by human intervention.

HP Intelligent Power Discovery (IPD) is an energy-aware
solution which combines the advanced management
features of HP Integrated Lights-Out (iLO), HP Common
Slot Platinum Power Supplies, HP Intelligent Power
Distribution Unit (iPDU), and HP Insight Control power
management software to help you automatically track
installation of new servers into the rack and map them
to individual outlets on the iPDU.

Platinum Power Supplies now provide identification
information such as server name, UUID number, and
IP address to the Intelligent PDU and HP Insight Control
power management software. This helps reduce the time
needed to configure power distribution and management
software. What’s more, IPD intuitively detects redundant
power supplies and makes sure they are running on
different PDUs. This helps reduce unscheduled down time
and the possibility of human error.

remotely from standard Web browsers.

Multiple account levels:
Rack option hardware support
HP Care Pack services support rack-mounted HP ProLiant DL servers,
storage products, and all HP-branded rack hardware options
that qualify for inclusion with your server at the time of or after
purchase. Additionally, 22-inch and smaller external monitors, power
distribution units, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) options up
to 12 kVA are covered under the same service level as the server for
up to 3-years from the date of purchase at no additional cost.

HP Common Slot (CS) Platinum Power
Supplies
HP offers three Platinum-certified CS power supplies
that incorporate power line communication technology.
These power supplies are available in a range of
wattage levels: 460W, 750W, and 1200W.

HP CS Platinum power supplies are rated as the most
efficient in the industry with a power efficiency of at
least 94 percent

at a 40 percent load. This efficiency
level is the highest rating recognized by 80 PLUS and
EPRI. All three power supplies are Platinum certified
through the ECOS/80 PLUS certification program.

The 80 PLUS certification is an incentive program funded by electric utilities to
encourage manufacturer development and customer application of more energy-efficient power supplies. To earn 80 PLUS certification, a power supply
must be proven through independent testing to be 80 percent (or greater) energy efficient when delivering 20, 50, and 100 percent of the rated load

Based on the modular PDU’s flexible core and stick
design, the iPDU offers you a new level of remote
power monitoring and control in your data center.
Integrated remote management in the iPDU core
provides high-precision monitoring of current, voltage,

all six IEC C19 outlets. Intelligent Extension Bars plug
into the core and have five individually monitored IEC
C13 outlets. Each of these outlets can also be remotely
managed through common Web browsers.
