Archers are ranged foot soldiers. In general, they are powerful versus <link="topic:infantry">infantry</link> and weak versus <link="topic:cavalry">cavalry</link>. Because they are ranged, they are more expensive than <link="topic:infantry">infantry</link>. The Greek archers are the <link="proto:toxotes">Toxotes</link>, the <link="proto:peltast">Peltast</link>, and the <link="proto:crossbowman">Gastraphetes</link>. The Egyptian archers are the <link="proto:chariot archer">Chariot Archer</link> and the <link="proto:slinger">Slinger</link>. The Norse have no archers, but can use their <link="proto:throwing axeman">Throwing Axeman</link> or <link="proto:ballista">Ballista</link> to attack at range.
