This is a quick throw together editor for the Display name of ME2 career saves, done at someone's request. It has minimal checking and absolutely no resigning of the file. Use at your own risk. Caveat Emptor. ====== N.B. This tool only saves a little time. The same change can be obtained by creating a new career with name and class as desired, and then inserting the game saves one desires using Modio or a similar tool. ====== Run the program. Open (a copy of) the career save you want to edit. If all looks good to the program you are presented with the Display string. ME2 uses the format: [Name goes here] - [Class Name] - [Date String] The filename you load back is named as: [name not used?]_XY_Class_DateString X is the Origin: 0-none, 1-Spacer, 2-Colonist, 3-Earthborn Y is the Notoriety: 0-none, 1-Sole Survivor, 2-War Hero, 3-Ruthless DateString is DDMMYY The career list seems to display Name and Class from the Display string; and Origin, Notoriety, and date from the filename. FINALLY. 1. I don't check the new string for proper formatting as me2 expects. 2. I don't resign the file--so be sure to rehash/resign it with your usual tools. CAVEAT EMPTOR: I do minimal checking. In particular, I don't check if it is the correct game save, just *a* game save file. So I'm sure there are cases this could really ruin a file if not used with what it expects. Keep backups.
