Worksheet 3: November
1.
Look at the map and fill in the names of the buildings and roads. Start at ‘You are
here’ each time.
1. The school is near the end of the road on the left.
2. The post office is at the end of the road, opposite the school.
3. Take the first on the right. It is called Green Street. The restaurant is at the end of
Green Street on the right.
4. The railway station is in Green Street opposite the restaurant.
5. The school and the post office are in London Street.
6. The bank is next to the school. It is right at the end of the road.
7. Turn right into Green Street. On the right is the bakery and on the left is a hotel.
8. The second road on the left is Market Street. Turn left into market street, on the right
is the cinema.

Time (approx.):
20 minutes
Preparation:
Photocopy one worksheet for each student
Using the worksheet:
·
It may be a good idea to introduce the idea by drawing a map on
the board and marking a position to start.
·
Tell students that you are going to give them the instructions and
they have to come to the board and mark the names of the roads
and buildings.
·
For example, say, At the end of the road on the left is the school.
Now draw a square to represent the school and write the word
School in the box.
·
Now say, The school is in Green Road and write Green Road in
the appropriate place on the map.
·
Continue in this way but invite the students up to label all the
things.
·
Hand out the worksheet.
·
Explain to the students that they have to read the instructions and
complete the map. Tell them to label the buildings and the roads.
·
Once the students have done the exercise, draw a completed map
on the board with all the correct road names and labels so that the
students can check their work.

Additional ideas:
·
Continue the exercise by describing more things on the map but

2. There is a supermarket on the corner of Market Street and
London Street, next to the Post Office.
