Introduction to ECRT
The Effort Certification and Reporting Technology tool, known as
ECRT, is used at Duke University to certify, approve, and track/report the
effort excerted by Faculty and Monthly Staff that meet the criteria of a
“Certifier”. This tool is used by the Certifier to certify where their time is
spent. This tool is also used by Effort Coordinators to track and approve
the effort certification for their responsible areas.
To access ECRT via Duke@WORK:
1.
Open a web browser and log into the Duke@WORK website at the
following URL: http://work.duke.edu
Note:
Do NOT type www. at the beginning of the URL.

On the Duke University NetID Services screen, enter your NetID
and Password, and click on the Enter button.
3.
Wait for the screen stating that you are being redirected to the
website .
4.
If your browser pops up a security dialog box, click on the “ Yes
button.

Click on the ECRT tab to open the ECRT tool in the window below.

On the ECRT Home Page screen:

Notice the navigation tabs across the top of the screen (which
match the navigation options on the wheel outlined in next step).

Notice the The Effort Lifecycle “wheel” in the center of the screen
with lists of the various options available for each section.
Note:
The options listed are based on your security
roles assigned in ECRT. Therefore, only the
options available for the roles assigned will
display.

Notice the links provided on the left navigation pane (navy) to
provide assistance if needed.
11.
Refer to the rest of the Guide for how to perform functions from this
Home Page and The Effort Lifecycle “wheel” (i.e., this screen will
be the starting point for all other steps).
