XCommander is a file manager for the XBox. It is similar to the old
Norton Commander. You have two file windows and can copy files between them.

Installation
------------

You can create an ISO file and launch XCommander from a CD/DVD-R or copy all
files on your harddisk and start it from there. If you want to copy files
from your DVD-ROM, you have to copy XCommander to your harddisk.

Input
-----

XCommander supports gamepad and USB keyboards. Check out
http://www.crusaders.no/~joker/xbox/keyboard.htm if you don't know how to
build an USB xbox adapter.

The gamepad commands:
Left Trigger/
Right Trigger:  Change left/right ListBox
A Button: Executes file (if xbe) or scans subdir (if DIR)
B Button:       Selects file/dir
Y Button:       scans updir
START Button:   Opens command menu

Keyboard commands (almost like the old Norton Commander):
TAB:            Changes left/right ListBox
F5:             Copy files
F6:             Rename files
F7:             Create new directory
F8:             Delete files/directories
F10:            Opens command menu
ESC: Quits program and starts XDashboard

Windows PC Support
------------------

It is also possible to create a connection to your Windows PC. You have to launch
XServer there and enter the IP of the PC in the "Options" Dialog. After that,
traverse to the root dir and choose "WIN". The XServer shows a lot of Debug
Messages right now, please ignore them. When starting XServer, give your open
directories as parameter, i.e.:

XServer C:\ C:\Movies

Please note that there are no security mechanisms, so everyone can scan your
harddisk and copy/move files.

If you want to copy files from your DVD-Rom, make sure that you insert the DVD
when starting the XBox.

Soundtrack Support
------------------

A new feature is to copy wma files directly to your stored soundtracks and
use them in some games (for example in Rallisport Challenge or Project Gotham
Racing). First of all, this feature is not much tested (only on my machine) so

I DO STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO SAVE YOUR SOUNDTRACK DB BEFORE PLAYING WITH THIS
FEATURE

You can find your soundtrack DB at e:\tdata\fffe0000\music\
Save all subfolders and your ST.DB file. After that, you can try and open
your Soundtracks with XCommander by choosing "XSoundtrack\" from the
root directory. All your soundtracks should be displayed here. Use
"Create Directory" to add a new soundtrack. You can also traverse into a
soundtrack and view all songs.
If you connect with the XServer to
your PC, you can copy directly all your wma files in your soundtrack:
On your PC, store your files this way:

<SoundtrackName1>(Directory)
  -> song1.wma
  -> song2.wma
  -> song3.wma
  ...
  -> songn.wma
<SoundtrackName2>(Directory)
 -> song1.wma
 ...

Select all Soundtrack Names (all directories) and copy them to your "XSoundtrack\"
directory. Please note that you should not create any subdirectories in your
<SoundtrackNamen> directories, because you cannot create nested soundtrack entries
with your XBox.

If you find problems or errors with this function and want to help me making
this tool better, send me your ST.DB file and a description what went wrong.

I would also like to show you a way to restore your soundtrack functionality
if you have destroyed it and you don't have any saves. You can simply delete
all subdirectories and the ST.DB file in your e:\tdata\fffe0000\music\
and start your MS Dashboard. Here, insert an Audio CD and grap at least one
song. MS Dashboard creates a new ST.DB that you can use then (and by the way:
this empty DB file works nice with XCommander ;-) ).

Known Problems/Errors
---------------------

- no DVD-ROM remounting (if someone knows how to implement this, send me
  a mail)
- rename functionality for soundtracks is missing
