Progress Test 5 (Units 13-15)
Track 6
1 It went really, really well; the restaurant, the meal, the service and everything were all excellent but the thing was we spent the whole time telling jokes. I couldn’t stop laughing ... he said he’d never had such a good evening out with suppliers.
2 It wasn’t exactly a holiday, you know; the sessions started at nine every morning and we didn’t get out till late most evenings, but the important point is we really did learn a lot about project management and how to prioritise tasks and filter out unimportant information.
3 I thought it would never end, people kept getting off the point and they went on and on about how the hand drier in the toilets is broken, for about half an hour! It wasn’t exactly on the agenda, was it! I couldn’t believe it.
4 Well, actually the whole presentation was really very enjoyable and interesting but basically, what she said was the best strategy against infoglut was to get a good assistant to deal with most of the paperwork.
5 Well, I reckon he’s leaving soon. I mean, don’t tell anyone I told you, but when I asked him about arranging a date for my appraisal meeting, he told me that he didn’t think he’d be doing it!
