Dear Editor, correct me if I’m
wrong, but is the data given in
Table 2 (IDE Register Set) not
incorrect in that /CS1FX and
/CS3FX are transposed. All of the
research that I have conducted

we can not assume just like that

Moving urls…
Dear Editor, I was unable to find
the Visual BASIC webpage you
mentioned in your otherwise
excellent article “USB Interface’.

Thank you for your suggestion, it
has been copied to our design
staff.
The signals /CS1FX and /CS3FX
are “ active low “ which means
that if they are active the actual
voltage level on the line is low.
So, in the table, the DATA regis-
ter is listed with /CS1FX = ‘1’
which means that as it is active-
low the level on the line would
be low.

Size, does it matter?
Dear Editor, I have just had a
quick look around your website,
and decided to download a file —
the one I downloaded was
000122-11.exe, a self extracting
zip file (size about 47K). When I
ran this I got the PDF file — size
23K! Why do you convert a file to
be a self-extracting zip, if the
resulting file is bigger than the
original?
